The Art of Social Media- My Top Five Favourite Tips!
Hi there,
In this post, I will be discussing my favourite tips and tricks from the book The Art of Social Media. If you’re new to my blog, and you’re wondering what the heck I’m talking about, please read my review on the book The Art of Social Media first!
Now, like I mentioned in my previous post, this book is jam packed with various tips, tricks and lessons to help you thrive when it comes to your social media presence, and although there were numerous helpful ones, I’ve kept track of my favourite ones I think someone who is new at using social media might benefit from the most.
#28- Be Visual
It’s a MUST to have visuals in your posts! According to The Art of Social Media, every single post should include “eye candy” in the form of a picture, graphic or video. A study was done by Skyward that proved that on average, total views increased 94% if a published article contained a relevant photograph when compared to articles without an image in the same category.
I think having a visual is EXTREMELY important. How many times have you clicked on an article from Facebook or Twitter that didn’t have some sort of visual that went along with it? Pictures and videos capture a viewers attention- especially if its something their interested in! Take advantage of this tip and always attach a visual to your post!
#35 Be A Mensch
Whats a mensch, you ask? (I had to google this too- so don’t feel so bad) The dictionary describes a mensch to be a person of integrity and honour. This is providing small acts of kindness for people on social media without expecting anything in return. Share other peoples posts, make positive and intellectual comments, and suggest resources and solutions. This will give your social media platforms a positive vibe and goodness will eventually flow to your posts!
#51 Curate Your Content
This means make your content good enough that people will want to SHARE it. If the content you’ve written doesn’t seem good enough to share, it probably isn’t worth writing! Make sure you’re always PROUD of the content you write and share!
#110 Don’t Call Yourself a Guru or an Expert
If you’re a guru or an expert, people will know it. If you aren’t one, no one is going to believe you. In particular, social media guru is an oxymoron because nobody really knows how social media works. Yes, you can read countless books and articles about how to improve your social media platforms, how to gain followers and how to interact better on social media, but these are just that- tips and tricks. Different things work differently for each and every person.
#46 Stay Positive
Because people are ALWAYS WATCHING on social media, it is important for you to always stay positive! Whether it be in your comments section, or something you post or share, you can never go wrong by taking the high road. Not everyone is going to like what you post, and there are always people out there who love to voice their opinion in comments section (whether it be positive or negative), its important that you do not instigate the negativity because this will reflect badly on you and your social media page!
There are so many more tips where these came from! Those are just the top 5 that stuck with me! Definitely get your hands on a copy of the book to see what else it has in store for you !
